We all know that Colombia is a country that has one of the best coffees in the world. However, if you think that they have just one type of coffee, you are mistaken. Colombia has well defined Colombian Coffee areas and has a spectacular variety of coffees. It doesn’t matter if you want a rounder, heavier or more vibrant coffee, it’s very likely that Colombia has the variety you seek. Each region and state have coffee with its own distinctive characteristics. Nevertheless, if you enjoy a coffee from a particular region, you will probably enjoy the coffee from many other regions.
Today we want to share with you a list of the Colombian Coffee regions. Each one with their own characteristics, altitude, varieties, and traits. COFFEE ZONE REGION – COFFEE | CALDAS, RISARALDA, QUINDIO |
Famous region for having a coffee with medium body and well-balanced flavor. It is characterized by caramel sweetness and a subtle nut flavor. It has moderate acidity with a great balance and an inherent sweetness. This coffee zone has a unique soil rich in volcanic ashes, a perfect geographic altitude and a unique rain cycle.

CAUCA REGION – COFFEE
Among the regions, this specific area is known for the coffee grown around Inza town and the city of Popayan. The coffee trees grow in a high plateau close to Popayan which provides an attractive growing condition as a result of the altitude, the surrounding mountains and its proximity to the equator (which has the perfect conditions that protects the coffee from the humidity of the Pacific and the trade winds from the south). The result is a very stable climate year-round. This provides a coffee with a citrus, sweet and floral cup.

TOLIMA REGION – COFFEE
The east and central mountain Andes mountains cross the department, giving way to the low areas such as the valley of Magdalena River and areas with very high elevations like Nevado del Ruiz. Such a variety of climates and the unique combination of natural features, as alpine tundra ecosystem, great soul rich in minerals and volcanic ash and wetlands, have an attractive influence on the coffee production. The result is a high-quality coffee that tends to come from small farmers in very small micro-lots with high acidity, fruity and sweet taste.

HUILA REGION – COFFEE
The department of Huila has an impressive combination of great soil and great geography for growing coffee. Some of the most complex fruit-driven Colombian coffees with medium acidity and winey taste have come from this specific region.
